You can also visit our help pages to learn more about Macros.

The Macro Window

For those who are not familiar with Macros, they could also be called shortcuts. They are a means of automating a redundant process. They become useful in Powermarks because you often might search for "Computer Magazines", instead of typing those two words in every time, you can just create a macro that will automatically add those keywords to the search field at the click of button. We have tried to make them as simple and useful as possible.

This is the Macro Window (right-click to display the pop-up menu):

 How to Create a Macro
Powermarks provide two easy methods for creating macros, this first is by selecting "New" from the Macro Window pop-up menu shown above.

The other way is to click on the Macro menu option and choose the type you want to create.

 URL Macros

A URL macro will act as a permanent link to the site specified.  This is extremely useful if you have a unique page that you visit frequently, such as a personalized news page or Kaylon!  The URL macro is designated with a lightning bolt.  In the screen shot above, Kaylon is listed as a URL macro.

Aside from the other means of creating a macro, you can create a URL macro from the Main Window pop-up menu, by clicking on "Make Shortcut Macro".

 Keyword Search Macros

The Keyword Search Macro allows you to group commonly accessed keywords together to increase your efficiency.  In the Macro Window screen shot, "Bookmarks" is the title of a keyword macro.

 Exact String Search Macro

Just as Powermarks provides you two options for searching you bookmarks, Keyword and Exact String, it also allows you to create macros to match.  Schools is listed as an exact string macro.
